Two days of gorgeous weather with sunny temps in the 60’s was little more than a tease for what we all know April is capable of. The Lady Bearcats, while enjoying the reprieve from the cold, weren’t teasing anyone with another win against conference opponents.

A full collective effort from sprints, hurdles, distance, jumps, and throws spanned the board as the ladies started off strong in the field events.

Senior Lexi Passauer won the long jump (13-10.5) and placed 2nd in high jump (4-6), while her teammates Freshman Kaitlyn Hyde (13-6) and junior Bri Ballard (4-6) were right behind her.

In the throws, Senior Brenna Keen continued her meteoric rise in the shot put placing 3rd (27-3), and Junior Maddie Dominion placed 4th in the discus (60-8).

The girls sprints and hurdles capped off exciting races all night with Freshmen Lily Ball and Jenascia Warnell teaming up finishing 2nd and 3rd in the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Right after that, Seniors Hallie Price and Channelle Hammond took 2nd and 3rd in the 100 m dash respectively. Price would team up with sophomore Amaya Turner to sweep the 200 m dash with the latter being a double winner in the 400 m dash!

The distance crew were steady and strong all night with the 4×8 team of Filippa Berg, Sarah Gerbick, Shelby Stevens and Dottie Heuring pacing themselves for a win. Emily Gaylord earned a win in the 1600 m run and a 2nd in the 3200 m run with teammates Shelby Stevens (2nd – 1600) and Hailey Orosz (1st – 3200) helping push her along the way. The lady Bearcats weren’t done, taking the top 4 spots in the 800 m run with Freshman Emma Hellwege winning followed by Hailey Orosz, Elena Giorgi, and Filippa Berg.

Finally, the girls capped it off with a win in the 4×400 meter relay underneath the lights with Amaya Turner, Elena Giorgi, Emma Hellwege, and Dottie Heuring.

The girls move to 7-0 on the year and are a perfect 5-0 in conference meets on the season.

The girls team is back in action this Saturday at home hosting 7 other schools in the 9th annual Bearcat Invitational starting at 10:00 a.m.
