Two meets down, two wins, boxes checked for the Lady Bearcat Cross Country team. The Harrison Invitational held in West Lafayette, IN held new levels of competition that the teams love to embrace. With the feels of a collegiate meet, the girls were amped up to prove they belonged among the elite company of teams in Indiana.

“We challenged them all week (along with the boys), to go out and be elite. You want to prove yourselves, do it on the course.” Coach Luis Guillen said.

The Lady Bearcats were led by not one but two top ten performances in Junior Hailey Orosz placing fourth (18:46) and Sophomore Emma Hellwege placing ninth (18:57). Both breaking the 19 minute barrier for the first time in their careers.

Freshman Emily Enright continues to impress clocking in at 21:09, with junior Dottie Heuring right behind in 21:22. Junior Emily Gaylord wrapped up the top 5 scorers for the ladies in 22:17.

The ladies will be back in action next Saturday at Lowell HS for the Bob Thomas Invitational.
